Fish in ginger garlic sauce

I always like the ginger sauce taste. And I happened to have cod fish steak, so I decided to cook this for dinner. It may take a bit more time to prepare and cook. But there is a short cut way to do this dish too. Toddler can also eat this dish, just that you need to omit the hua diao wine.


Ginger, shredded
Garlic, chopped
Cod fish steak (or other fish like grouper)
Hua Diao wine (omit if you intend to let toddler eat this)
Sesame oil
Corn starch
Dark soy sauce
Oyster sauce


  1. .Marinade the fish with hua diao wine, pepper, beaten egg, salt and sesame oil. Leave it for at least 30 mins
  2. Coat the fish steak with corn starch. Heat the oil and fry the fish till crispy. Put it aside.
  3. Heat oil and fry chopped garlic and shredded ginger. Add dark soy sauce, sugar, oyster sauce, water. Add some corn starch solution to thicken the sauce. Cook till boil and pour it over the fish.
  4. Serve with rice.

Mum mum’s notes:
It is time consuming to fry the fish steak till crispy. So another way to do this dish is: After frying garlic and ginger, stir fry the fish slices (use slice instead of steak). When it is about to cook, add in the ingredients in step 3. Serve when the sauce is boiled.
