Marmite Chicken Wings

Saw this Marmite chicken wings recipe from Facebook and decided to give it a try. My hubby liked marmite chicken wings and he would always order this dish from the restaurant if he saw that it was in the menu. Hence I decided to give it a try. I also have made some modifications to the recipe as the original recipe is more of a hot and spicy type. For those who may not be familiar with Marmite, it is actually a brand name and this sticky sauce is made up of yeast extract, which is supposed to be a healthy food for children.



4 Chicken wings, marinated with salt and sesame oil overnight
Garlic, sliced and fried
Shallot, sliced and fried
1/2 tablespoon Marmite
1/2 tablespoon dark soya sauce
1/4 tablespoon bean paste
1 tablespoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon sesame oil
60ml water


  1. Combine all the sauce ingredients together and set aside
  2. Oil the pan and pre-sear the chicken wings in medium heat for a few minutes until they are half cooked
  3. Add the sauce mixture and stir about 5 minutes until the sauce thickens
  4. Put in the fried shallot and garlic.
  5. Ready to serve!


Mum mum’s notes:

After you fried the garlic and shallot, keep the oil for searing the chicken wings as this oil will add fragrance to the dish!
