    Singaporeans call it carrot cake but it is not made from carrot.. This “cake” is actually made from white radish. You can refer to the recipe of Law Pak Ko for making of the radish cake (meaning you have to omit those shrimps, sausage in the ingredients). Alternatively, you can just buy the radish cake off the shelf. Overall, it is pretty easy to stir fry the carrot cake if you are not making your own radish cake. :p Of course, I strongly believe that if you make your own radish cake, the taste will be much better.

    Previously I made the Hong Kong soy sauce chicken noodle and kept the sauce in my freezer. My hubby missed the Taiwanese braised duck wings (from the local famous 老天禄) And hence I tried to “curb” his cravings by making the braised duck wings for him, hoping they tasted the same. Of course, my braised sauce cannot compare to the one used by this traditional shop, but nevertheless it was still delicious. Not very time consuming, if you happened to have kept the braised sauce. You may wish to start cooking the braised sauce from scratch too.. 🙂

    I used to lunch at this Vietnamese “fast food restaurant” called Saigon Express. I just love their pork vermicelli. To make the dish even more welcoming to me, they always give me generous amount of daikon and carrot pickles. So when this fast food restaurant closed down, I could no longer find the same pork vermicelli. Hence I decided to make my own pork vermicelli. But to do that, I have to learn to make the daikon and carrot pickles first. To me, that is one of the important ingredient of the pork vermicelli.

    I saw a Taiwanese variety show which introduced this dish. That sparked my interest. My kid loved mee suay and hope he will like a different taste of mee suay. After I googled in the net, I found that this dish is a very authentic Taiwanese food. The ingredients used are very simple and easy to obtain. It just takes me around 20 minutes to cook the whole dish.

    I have seen many posts on how easy it was to make roast pork at home, using airfryer. I never dare to try it as it seems to be a lot of work! Well, it is. But the steps are actually quite simple, just that you need more time to prepare the meat. The rest of the work? Just leave it to the air fryer! And the final product was really crispy and it was unlike what we bought from the restaurant/food stall. It really worth my effort when I saw my hubby enjoying it! 🙂
